Reading Comprehension: Fairy Tale Fun
Each week students will be read a famous fairy tale for children. Students learn reading comprehension skills such as asking and answering questions about key details in the fairy tale, retelling stories to include the beginning, middle, and end, and identifying the elements of a story (characters, setting, plot, etc.). This course helps develop an interest in reading and builds on comprehension, reading and writing skills.

Taught by Ms. Barbara
Ms. Barbara is passionate teacher and writer with over a decade of experience. As a life-long learner, she continually strives to learn new things and inspire her students to do the same. Having spent three years living in Southeast Asia, connecting across cultures brings her great joy! Through implementing innovative teaching methods, she engages her learners in lessons which serve to build written and oral communication skills alongside academics. She studied English Writing and Communications (receiving Bachelor's degrees in both fields) at the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Certificate in Children's Literature. Not only does she have experience teaching online, abroad, and in Montessori schools, but her written works have also been featured in digital and in-print publications. She is excited to invite her students to explore their imagination's limitless possibilities and creative opportunities abound in her classroom!

Socio Emotional Learning: Big Feelings
In this interactive Social-Emotional Learning class, students will explore aspects of kindness, empathy, worry, anger and self acceptance. Each lesson will focus on one Big Idea or Feeling using varied mediums, such as - puppets, songs, stories, games, and craft projects. This course taps into children’s inherent resilience and creativity to allow for constructive problem solving and self-expression.
Speech and Drama
This class will cover aspects of voice modulation, projection, characterization, dramatization, working in teams, appropriate use of facial expression, body language, and space. Each class involves fun activities, games and student performances.
Art: Pirates and Mermaids
Each lesson students will create an art work related to pirates, mermaids and the high seas. This will include pirates, parrots, ships and mermaids - sure to get young learners excited about drawing.
